The eastern end of the Manawatū Gorge track is once again completely open after a walking bridge has been replaced.
The old bridge had no longer been fit for purpose, as due to the design and location, was often under water when river levels got high. The new bridge is higher and sturdier than its predecessor and will improve safety and accessibility for Manawatū Gorge visitors.
Walkers can once again enjoy the full 11km walk from one end of the Gorge to the other, or take a shorter stroll with the loop options at either end. Tracks can be accessed from the car parks at both ends. For your safety, please adhere to all signs and barriers.
